With support from the University Grant Commission, the Exam Control Division (ECD), IOE, hosted a three-day workshop on "Effective Question Setting and Answer Sheet Evaluation" from Jestha 14 to 16, 2081. The workshop aimed to refine educators' skills in developing effective assessments and reliable evaluation methods. Participants from Khwopa College of Engineering included Er. Gaurab Tamrakar (Electrical Department), Er. Sanyukta Ligal (Computer and Electronics Department), and Er. Upu Rasiya Lasiwa (Civil Engineering Department).
The workshop was designed to be highly practical, with participants engaging in hands-on activities from the start. It kicked off with an opening ceremony that included distinguished guests, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suraj Lamichhane, Asst. Dean of ECD, Asst. Prof. Santosh Giri, IOE Resource Person, and Er. Prem Chandra Roy, HOD, Computer Department, Advanced College of Engineering and Management. Dr. Lamichhane underscored the significance of robust assessment methods in maintaining academic standards. The workshop explored topics such as question setting, complete workflow, rules and regulations, and group tasks. Participants were divided into groups and tasked with practical question setting and answer grid preparation using the new syllabus. On the second day, participants learnt more advanced approaches for question creation and precise grading criteria development. The interactive sessions encouraged participants to share their experiences and challenges, fostering a dynamic learning environment.
On the final day, participants had the opportunity to showcase their work and receive valuable feedback. The speakers led discussions on best practices, pitfalls to avoid, case studies, questionnaire directives, rules and regulations pertaining to question setting, and the code of conduct for the evaluation process. Participants presented their sample question papers and evaluation criteria for peer review and expert feedback, a crucial step in the learning process.
The workshop concluded with a ceremony where participants were awarded certificates of completion. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suraj Lamichhane and Asst. Prof. Santosh Giri praised the participants for their enthusiasm and commitment to improving assessment standards.
