Computer and Electronics Engineering

Introduction

The Department of Electronics and Computer Engineering at Khwopa College of Engineering (KhCE) was established in 2074 B.S. with a vision to produce competent, ethical, and innovative engineers equipped to tackle global technological challenges. Bridging electronics, computing, and communication domains, the department offers a comprehensive four-year Bachelor’s program under the curriculum prescribed by the Institute of Engineering (IOE), Tribhuvan University.

The academic program emphasizes a balance between theoretical foundations and practical applications. Core areas of study include embedded systems, artificial intelligence, machine learning, robotics, computer networks, and software development. Students benefit from access to modern laboratories, high-performance computing infrastructure, and professional tools such as MATLAB, Cisco Packet Tracer, Canva, and ChatGPT.

Beyond academics, the department cultivates a vibrant environment for project-based learning, research, and community engagement. Our students have excelled in national competitions such as Hack the Circle and Code-Yatra, and actively participate in internships, industry training, and outreach initiatives. Strong collaborations with organizations like Genese Academy, Dyltica Nepal Pvt. Ltd., and Deepmind Creations Pvt. Ltd. ensure that our graduates are ready to meet the demands of a dynamic industry.

Message from HoD

Since our inception in 2074 B.S., our department has remained committed to producing technically proficient, socially responsible, and globally competent engineers. Our curriculum is designed to meet industry standards while encouraging innovation, critical thinking, and ethical engineering practices.

We are proud of our students' accomplishments—in academic excellence, national competitions, research, and community service—which reflect the dedication of our faculty, the support of guardians, and the energy of our students.

Our partnerships with leading industry and academic institutions have significantly enhanced the learning environment. From upgraded lab infrastructure to certified training programs and internship placements, we are ensuring that our students are prepared for the future. Recent developments include the establishment of an AI Lab and the integration of high-performance computing resources.

As we continue to grow in diversity and research output, we reaffirm our commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and societal transformation. I warmly invite aspiring engineers to join us on this journey at KhCE—where education is not just about learning, but about making a difference.

Objectives

The Computer Engineering program at KhCE is intended to produce skilled human resources in computer engineering to align with national and international academic standards to reflect global competencies.

Intended Learning Outcomes

A] Strong Technical Foundation

  • Graduates will master fundamental concepts in programming, data structures, algorithms, digital logic, operating systems, databases, and computer networks.

B] Problem-Solving and System Design

  • Students will be able to analyze complex engineering problems and design both hardware and software systems that are efficient, reliable, and scalable.

C] Communication and Teamwork

  • The program nurtures communication skills and teamwork essential for professional environments. Students learn to present ideas clearly and collaborate effectively on multidisciplinary projects.

D] Ethical and Social Responsibility

  • Emphasis is placed on understanding the ethical, societal, and environmental implications of technology. Students are trained to uphold integrity and consider the long-term consequences of their engineering decisions.

E] Lifelong Learning and Adaptability

  • A culture of continuous learning is cultivated. Graduates are encouraged to stay updated with emerging tools such as AI, blockchain, and generative technologies like ChatGPT and pursue careers in academia, research, or innovation-driven enterprises.

F] Leadership and Initiative

  • Students develop leadership qualities that enable them to lead teams, manage technical projects, and drive innovation in corporate or entrepreneurial settings.

Curriculum

The department follows the Bachelor’s in Computer Engineering curriculum developed by the Institute of Engineering (IOE), aiming to produce technically capable professionals for a fast-paced and ever-evolving tech industry.

In the final year, students are offered a choice of electives in two phases:

  • Elective I – Fourth Year, First Part
  • Elective II & III – Fourth Year, Second Part

These electives are carefully selected to:

  • Accommodate students’ academic interests and career goals
  • Address industry demands and emerging technologies
  • Reflect global trends in electronics and computing

Currently Offered Electives:

  • Elective I
    • Data Mining
  • Elective II
    • Big Data Technologies
  • Elective III
    • Multimedia System

These electives empower students to specialize in data science, computing, and digital systems in alignment with industry expectations.

New Courses and Curriculum Revisions

The Institute of Engineering (IOE) has recently introduced a revised curriculum that emphasizes practical application, modern technologies, and industry alignment.

Key Enhancements:

  • Inclusion of cutting-edge subjects such as:
    • Artificial Intelligence (AI)
