Certificates for the Senior-Junior Collaborative Training Initiative and Training for the faculties were distributed during the event. These training sessions, which were held during the semester breaks in the month of Baisakh 2081 BS, equipped the students with practical skills. Second-year students (Batch of 2079) received training in AutoCAD Basics, a fundamental tool in engineering design. Third-year students (Batch of 2078) were trained in QGIS, a geographic information system software. Fourth-year students (Batch of 2077) received training in Drone and DGPS Surveying, a modern approach to surveying, and ETABS, a software for structural analysis and design. Similarly, Training in Matlab was carried out by the Department of Electrical Engineering.
Additionally, certificates for a teacher training session on quality assurance and quality control of RCC structures, conducted by Senior Engineer Jagadishwar Man Shrestha, were distributed.
During the program, Principal Sunil Duwal encouraged students to learn from Jagadishwar Man Shrestha's example of honesty in professional conduct. He emphasized that these kinds of training are important to minimize the gap between academia and industry. He urged that besides the hard technical skills, students should also focus on soft skills and asked the departments to orient future training to soft skills related to behavior, professional communication skills, and attitude.
Er. Jagadishwar Man Shrestha shared his college and field experiences, and training of these kinds is important for practical skills, which might be lacking in the university syllabi. Er. Ramesh Bala, Head of the Civil Engineering Department, introduced the training programs, highlighting their objectives and benefits for the students. Er.
