Kathmandu, May 17, 2024 – The "Conference on Sustainable Telecommunication Sector in Nepal," held at Hotel Yak & Yeti, Kathmandu, was a landmark event in the industry on World Telecommunication and Information Society Day 2024. Khwopa College of Engineering actively participated, with senior lecturers Er. Naresh Khatri and Er. Dinesh Ghemosu from the Computer and Electronics Engineering department representing the college.
Hon'ble Ms. Rekha Sharma, Minister of Communication and Information Technology (MoCIT), emphasized the government's dedication to fostering a sustainable and innovative telecom environment. The conference commenced with a welcome address by Mr. Bhupendra Bhandari, Chairman of the Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA). Key messages from international organizations, including the ITU and APT, were shared, followed by a keynote on “Sustainable Telecom Sector and Digital Innovation” by Mr. Forhadul Parvez.
Discussions throughout the day covered the current status, challenges, and opportunities in Nepal's telecom sector, regulatory initiatives, and digital innovation for sustainable development. Key industry figures participated in panel discussions, moderated by experts like Mr. Manoj Ghimire and Mr. Biswash Regmi.
The involvement of Er. Naresh Khatri and Er. Dinesh Ghemosu underscored the academic community's vital role in shaping sustainable telecommunication practices.
