On the 12th of Shrawan, 2080, the Department of Civil Engineering organized a highly beneficial field visit for third-year civil engineering students, focusing on Engineering Hydrology. The event was conducted under the guidance of experienced professionals, including Er. Raju Miyan, Er. Yogesh Bhattarai, Er. Unique Bakhrel, and Er. Aakash Basu.
During the field visit, the students had the opportunity to observe and learn about various hydrological instruments, including automatic and manual rain gauges, anemometers, Campbell-Stokes sunshine recorders, hygrometers, and evaporation pans. This exposure allowed them to understand the practical application and functioning of these instruments in hydrological data collection.
One of the key highlights of the field visit was the practical application of theoretical knowledge acquired during lectures about Engineering Hydrology. The students were involved in measuring the discharge of the Godawari River using different methods, such as the area velocity method, float method, and salt dilution method. Through hands-on experience, they gained valuable insights into the complexities and challenges of real-world hydrological measurements.
Overall, the field trip proved to be an essential part of the course curriculum, providing the students with invaluable practical knowledge in Engineering Hydrology. It not only enhanced their understanding but also reinforced their passion for this field of study. Such initiatives bridge the gap between theory and practice, preparing the students to become competent professionals in the field of civil engineering.
