Khwopa College of Engineering recently commenced an educational field visit to Malekhu in Dhading District from 10th Asar to 13th Asar, 2080 for the students in the third semester of civil engineering. As a regular course work in engineering geology, it was organized by the Department of Civil Engineering. It was led by senior lecturers Dr. Subeg Man Bijukchhen and Mr. Nirmal Kafle, along with lecturers Er. Anil Kasula and Er. Prasant Lakhemaru. The fieldwork provided hands-on experience in engineering geology and enhance students' comprehension of geological aspects relevant to civil engineering projects.
Malekhu area is one of the ideal destinations due to its renowned geological diversity and challenging topography, offering an excellent opportunity for students to witness and comprehend real-world geological complexities.
During the visit, the students actively participated in various activities related to engineering geology. They analyzed formations, studied rock behavior, and examined the impact of natural forces on the terrain. They were able to apply their academic knowledge to observe and analyze various geological formations, identify different types of rocks, and study river morphology. In a nutshell, it is expected that the practical experiences gained during the geology fieldwork will contribute to the professional development of the students.
