A Mental Health Awareness Program was organized on Saturday, 28th Asar 2082 at Hall 3 of Khwopa College of Engineering to highlight the importance of mental well-being among students and faculty. The event was supported by Khwopa Hospital run by Bhaktapur Municipality.
During the program, Er. Sunil Duwal encouraged all participants to openly discuss mental health concerns, stressing that timely identification makes treatment easier. He highlighted the importance of noticing unusual behavioral changes among students and classmates as potential signs of mental distress.
A special presentation was delivered by Consultant Psychiatrist Dr. Durga Thapa from Khwopa Hospital, focusing on mental health and common mental disorders among adolescents. After the presentation, an interactive question-and-answer session was held where participants discussed symptoms and challenges related to mental health.
Mr. Sanjaya Manandhar, Head of the Administration Section, also addressed the gathering, underscoring the value of such programs in an academic setting.
The program was further attended by Dr. Ashish Adhikari, Physician from Khwopa Hospital, along with Er. Naresh Khatri and Er. Gaurav Tamrakar, whose presence added to the significance of the program.
The program concluded with a shared commitment to creating a more open, supportive, and understanding environment regarding mental health at the college.
