The honorable members of the National Assembly Legislation Management Committee, led by Chairman Jayantidevi Rai, visited Bhaktapur Municipality, including this college and Khwopa Engineering College, on Wednesday, 13th Asar 2080. The purpose of the visit was to exchange experiences regarding the law-making process at the state and local levels and to observe the good practices of Bhaktapur Municipality.
The committee members were warmly welcomed by Mr. Sunil Prajapati, the Mayor of Bhaktapur Municipality and Chairman of the College Management Committee.
Following the observation visit, a program was held where Chairman Jayantidevi Rai expressed her appreciation for the commendable work done by Bhaktapur Municipality in the fields of education, health, and heritage reconstruction. She also highlighted Bhaktapur's development as a study ground and emphasized the importance of corruption-free governance and transparency.
Mayor Sunil Prajapati, in his remarks during the program, emphasized Bhaktapur Municipality's commitment to establishing a socialist-oriented system as envisioned by the constitution. He discussed the challenges of implementing federalism and stressed the need for empowering the local level according to the spirit of the Constitution. He also informed the audience about the municipality's efforts in preparing and implementing necessary laws, rules, procedures, and guidelines, including the preparation of 56 laws thus far.
During the program, Mayor Sunil Prajapati mentioned that Bhaktapur Municipality is taking necessary initiatives for the operation of Khwopa University. He informed the audience that the municipality is currently in the process of constructing the required physical infrastructure to establish the university.
If the municipality receives permission to operate a university, Mayor Prajapati expressed the goal of establishing a medical college that offers MBBS education at an affordable cost. He emphasized the importance of allowing competent local levels to establish universities, indicating the municipality's readiness to take on the responsibility of providing quality education in the medical field.
The principals of Khwopa Engineering College, Er. Sujan Maka, and Khwopa College of Engineering, Er. Sunil Duwal provided detailed information about the history, purpose, facilities, organizational structure, student enrollment, faculty and staff, subjects, and fee structures of the engineering colleges run by Bhaktapur Municipality.
During their visit, the committee members also had the opportunity to visit Khwopa College, Khwopa College of Law, Khwopa Hospital, and other institutions operated by Bhaktapur Municipality.
As a gesture of appreciation, Mayor Prajapati presented the college's publications as a gift to Honorable MP Rai. The study visit was attended by several members of the Legislation Management Committee: Hon. Uday Bahadur Bohra, Hon. Khimlal Devkota, Hon. Ganga Kumari Velvase, Hon. Taraman Swar, Hon. Devendra Dahal, Hon. Narayan Dutt Mishra, Hon. Bhagwati Neupane, Hon. Bhairav Sundar Shrestha, Hon. Radheshyam Paswan, Hon. Suresh Kumar Alemgar, Hon. Anita Devkota, deputy secretary of the committee Numraj Khanal, and authorized employees of the federal secretariat.
Ar. Rajani Joshi, the Deputy Mayor of Bhaktapur Municipality and the Vice Chairman of the College Management Committee, and Bhaktapur Municipality Ward No. 9 ward president, Mr. Ravindra Jyakhwo, and other municipality and college officials were present during the visit.
