On June 16–17, 2025, the Department of Computer and Electronics Engineering at Khwopa College of Engineering (KhCE) participated in a two-day “Workshop on Quantum Computing” hosted by the Department of Mathematics at Kathmandu University (KU), Dhulikhel campus. The event, coordinated by Dr. Gokul K.C., gathered scholars, researchers, and technology enthusiasts to explore the rapidly evolving field of quantum science and its applications.
The workshop provided a comprehensive introduction to the foundational principles of quantum physics, highlighting the transformative potential of quantum computing in areas such as artificial intelligence and data science. Renowned national and international experts led engaging sessions on topics including quantum algorithms, quantum teleportation, and quantum machine learning. Notable presentations included “An Introduction to Quantum Physics and Its Application” by Prof. Dr. Deepak P. Subedi, as well as sessions by Dr. Jayakumar Vaithiyashankar on quantum computing mathematics, algorithms, IBM Qiskit, and quantum machine learning. Dr. Manoj Shakya and Prof. Dr. Sudan Jha further discussed the current capabilities and prospects of AI with quantum computing.
KhCE’s representatives actively participated throughout the workshop, gaining valuable insights into both the theoretical and practical aspects of quantum technologies. Their enthusiastic involvement reflected the department’s growing interest in integrating quantum concepts into academic and research initiatives. The department extends its gratitude to Kathmandu University for organizing this forward-thinking event, which reinforces KhCE’s commitment to preparing students for emerging technological challenges and advancing engineering education in Nepal.
