From 1st to 5th Asar, 2082, the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Centre for Energy Studies (CES) at the Institute of Engineering (IoE), Pulchowk, organized a five-day national-level training program titled “Energy Systems Planning and Policy Analysis.” Khwopa College of Engineering was represented by Er. Dhurba Karki (Lecturer), Mr. Aayush Bhatta (Teaching Assistant), and Mr. Nischal Shrestha (Teaching Assistant), reflecting the college’s ongoing commitment to national capacity building and academic advancement.
The program was led by prominent energy experts, including Prof. Dr. Shree Raj Shakya (Director, CES), Dr. Anita Prajapati (Assistant Professor, IoE Pulchowk), and Mr. Utsav Shree Rajbhandari (PhD Scholar, Kathmandu University). The training focused on demand forecasting, policy formulation, and sustainable energy planning, offering both theoretical and practical insights into Nepal’s energy landscape. Participants gained hands-on experience with tools like LEAP (Low Emissions Analysis Platform) and MAED (Model for Analysis of Energy Demand), learning about energy balance modeling and scenario-based policy planning.
Key highlights included in-depth discussions on Nepal’s current and future energy mix, practical modeling exercises, and group activities to strengthen policy analysis skills. The program also encouraged networking and collaboration with educators and policy experts.
