The First College Assembly of Khwopa College of Engineering (KhCE), run by Bhaktapur Municipality, was held on Friday, 23rd of Jestha, 2082, at the college premises. The assembly was a significant institutional milestone, chaired by Mr. Sunil Prajapati, Mayor of Bhaktapur Municipality and Chairman of the College Management Committee.
As the supreme governing body in the college's organizational structure, the College Assembly plays a vital role in guiding institutional policies, endorsing key decisions, and ensuring transparency and accountability in both academic and administrative functions. The event marked a formal beginning in institutionalizing participatory governance and strategic development at KhCE.
Speaking at the assembly, Mayor Prajapati emphasized that the success of Khwopa College of Engineering has been made possible through the continuous support and cooperation of the people of Bhaktapur. He remarked, "Bhaktapur's good governance is becoming exemplary for all. With the development of education, the overall development of Bhaktapur city is taking place."
He also shared that efforts are being made to enhance the quality of all seven colleges operated by Bhaktapur Municipality. Emphasizing the collective role of the Khwopa Circle, he stated that the municipality is serving the country by developing skilled human resources in various fields through its educational institutions. Mayor Prajapati concluded by noting, "Khwopa Engineering College and Khwopa College of Engineering are also now known as the identity of Bhaktapur."
Surendra Raj Gosai, a central member of the Nepal Workers and Peasants Party and a member of the Bagmati Provincial Assembly, also extended his best wishes to the college. He expressed confidence that the college would continue to progress based on the decisions passed by the assembly and emphasized the importance of equal support and cooperation from all stakeholders. He suggested that regular discussions and interactions with stakeholders are crucial for institutional sustainability and achieving the college's long-term goals.
Rajani Joshi, Deputy Mayor of Bhaktapur Municipality and Vice-Chairperson of the College Assembly, stated that the educational institutions run by the municipality are progressing with the vision of establishing Khwopa University in the future.
Er. Sujan Maka, Principal of Khwopa Engineering College, also wished success to the first college assembly and extended his support to future collaborative efforts.
During the session, Er. Sunil Duwal, Principal of KhCE, presented the annual report and the audit report for the fiscal year 2080/81 and the annual policy and program for the fiscal year 2081/82, all of which were duly approved by the assembly. Additionally, the college’s Five-Year Strategic Plan (2024–2029) was endorsed, and a proposal to amend the college statute was also passed, marking a forward-looking step in the institutional development of KhCE.
The college assembly saw active participation from college leadership, faculty representatives, staff, students, parents, and stakeholders, reflecting a collective commitment to the vision of “Dedicated to the country and people.”
