Students and faculty from the Department of Computer and Electronics Engineering at Khwopa College of Engineering (KhCE) participated in the "Girls in ICT Nepal 2025" event held on May 23 at Hotel Himalaya, Lalitpur. The event, organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA), centered on the theme "Girls in ICT for Inclusive Digital Transformation".
Representing KhCE were Deputy Head Er. Naresh Khatri, faculty members Er. Reena Manandhar, Er. Sarala Shakya, Er. Rojina Shakya, and students including Ramila Maharjan. They joined both in person and virtually. The program featured welcome remarks from Mr. Bhupendra Bhandari (Chairman, NTA) and a video message from Dr. Cosmas Luckyson Zavazava (Director, ITU). Other notable speakers included Roja Kiran Basukala (Deputy Director, NTA), and inspiring women leaders in ICT such as Ms. Pratikshya Pandey (Founder, Smart Cheli) and Ms. Melisha Ghimire (Managing Director, Shequal Foundation).
The event included motivational talks, panel discussions with experts from industry and academia, and sessions on the challenges and opportunities for women in technology. Closing remarks were delivered by representatives from the Ministry of Women, ITU, and NTA. Participants gained valuable insights into global ICT trends, gender inclusion, and were inspired by successful role models in the tech sector.
