On June 4, 2023, Khwopa Engineering College (KhEC) and Khwopa College of Engineering (KhCE) jointly welcomed esteemed guest Abhijit Mukherjee, Dean of International South Asia and Professor of Civil Engineering at Curtin University, Perth, Australia. The meeting, organized by Anant Poudel from the Association of Nepalese Alumni from Australia, proved to be a significant step towards fostering collaboration between the two institutions.

The event was hosted by Sujan Maka, Principal of Khwopa Engineering College, and Sunil Duwal, Principal of Khwopa College of Engineering. They were joined by Ratna Shova Prajapati, Vice-Principal of Khwopa College of Engineering, Dr. Manjip Shakya, Head of the PG Department of Earthquake Engineering, and Dr. Subeg Man Bijukchhen, Coordinator of the Research and Development Unit.

The meeting began with a warm welcome from the principals, who expressed their delight at having Mr. Mukherjee at their college. Subsequently, the representatives introduced their respective institutions, providing a comprehensive overview of the colleges and universities to foster mutual understanding and knowledge sharing.

Mr. Mukherjee shed light on the purpose of his visit to Nepal, emphasizing the significance of collaboration and exchange of ideas between Curtin University and Khwopa Engineering College. He highlighted the potential areas of collaboration between the institutions, including joint research initiatives, faculty exchange programs, and the sharing of academic resources.

During the discussions, the participants explored avenues for collaboration and exchanged ideas on how to strengthen ties between the institutions. The meeting proved to be highly successful in laying the foundation for future collaboration, fostering a sense of mutual cooperation and shared goals.

Following the productive meeting, Mr. Mukherjee engaged in an interactive session with the students, particularly those specializing in earthquake engineering. He shared his expertise, experiences, and insights, inspiring the students and providing them with valuable perspectives on the field.

The Principals and faculty members expressed their gratitude to Mr. Mukherjee for his visit and extended their appreciation to the Association of Nepalese Alumni from Australia for coordinating the successful meeting.
