The 077 batch (IV/II) of the Electrical Engineering Department recently embarked on a field visit under the guidance of Er. Gaurab Tamrakar, Er. Tanus Bikram Malla, Mr. Aayush Bhatta, and Er. Sandeep Timsina. The three-day excursion included trips to the 27 kW Syaurebhumi Microhydro Power Plant and the 25 MW Nuwakot Solar Power Station, providing students with an invaluable hands-on learning experience.
During the visit, students studied the complete configuration of a micro hydro power plant, including its penstock, turbine, generation, and distribution systems. Two practicals were conducted, focusing on flow and head measurements. Additionally, the visit to the Nuwakot Solar Power Station offered insights into Nepal's largest solar power plant, where students engaged in discussions with site engineers. This initiative not only reinforced theoretical knowledge but also demonstrated the integration of renewable energy into Nepal’s national grid. The Syaurebhumi plant, a pioneering project, interconnects with the grid and exports 178,245 kWh annually.
