On Sunday, 2081/08/16, the Students' Quality Circle of Khwopa Engineering College (KhEC) and Khwopa College of Engineering (KhCE) jointly organized the "Khwopa Food Fest" at the college premises as a pre-event to promote the upcoming Bhaktapur Festival 2081, scheduled from 28th Mangsir to 2nd Poush. The event highlighted Nepal's rich cultural and culinary diversity, with 12 student groups serving a variety of ethnic and regional dishes, including Newar, Gurung, and Tharu cuisines along with cuisines representing the geographical regions such as Karnali, Madhesh, Manang, Hills and Kathmandu Valley alongside flavors representing the nation's culinary heritage.
The vibrant food fest drew participation from students, faculty, and the community, creating a lively cultural celebration while showcasing county’s rich traditions. This initiative also served as a platform to build anticipation for the Bhaktapur Festival, organized by Bhaktapur Municipality.
Er. Ratna Shova Prajapati, Vice Principal of Khwopa College of Engineering, emphasized that beyond fostering creativity and teamwork, the Khwopa Food Fest offers students an opportunity to showcase their talents further by operating food stalls during the upcoming Education Exhibition. She highlighted that the selected groups will represent ethnic and local dishes, reflecting Nepal's diverse culinary heritage.
The Khwopa Food Fest featured an array of traditional and ethnic dishes, showcasing Nepal's rich culinary diversity. Some of the delicacies showcased during the event included Dhikri, Gujhia, Fried Purukiya, Marsi Rice Kheer, Gajar Ko Haluwa, Sel Roti, Samaybaji, Wa (Bara), Chatamari, Paunkwa, Chhuyala, Sapumhicha, Lassi, Chat, Yomari, Masyaura Tarkari, and Juju Dhau. These dishes not only highlighted Nepalese cuisine's unique flavors but also celebrated various communities' cultural heritage.
