In a joint effort, Khwopa Engineering College (KhEC) and Khwopa College of Engineering (KhCE) organized a discourse program on 15th Ashoj, 2081 (Tuesday), to support the successful commencement of the 44th Nepalbhasa Literature Conference and Cultural Program. The event, known as Ta:munjya, is scheduled for the 28th and 29th Ashoj, 2081, in Lamuga: Bhaktapur.
The program featured a keynote address by Honorable Surendra Raj Gosai, a central member of the Nepal Workers and Peasants' Party (NWPP) and a member of the Bagmati Provincial Assembly. In his speech, Hon. Gosai discussed the significance of Ta:munjya and its role in fostering awareness among the people. He emphasized that the Nepalbhasa literature platform has been a powerful platform where people have resisted feudal exploitation and oppression through the arts, using their mother tongue as a medium for protest.
"Through Ta:munjya, the sanitation movement and social awareness campaigns were spread through literature and cultural performances," he stated. He further elaborated that the stage serves as a unifying platform for speakers of various languages across Nepal, including Nepali, where literature from different regions and languages is celebrated. Hon. Gosai underscored the importance of honoring those who have made significant contributions to society and national development on Ta:munjya's stage.
He reflected on the legacy of Teacher Jagat Sundar Malla, who advocated for teaching children in their mother tongue to foster quicker learning. Gosai warned that without preserving native languages, future generations might have to learn them from foreigners. He also called on engineers and technical professionals to engage with literature, suggesting that technical concepts can be communicated more effectively to the public through literary expressions.
Er. Sujan Maka, Principal of Khwopa Engineering College, echoed similar sentiments, highlighting that Ta: munjya serves as a platform for ordinary working people. He noted that the stage has helped raise awareness about earthquake preparedness and reconstruction efforts in Bhaktapur.
Er. Sunil Duwal, Principal of Khwopa College of Engineering, praised Ta:munjya for its longstanding contributions to society over the past 44 years. "Ta:munjya is like a university," he remarked, explaining that it has provided education and training in literature, health, education, social issues, and politics.
The event laid the foundation for meaningful discussions on the importance of preserving cultural heritage and literature while fostering awareness of various social and political issues. The upcoming 44th Nepalbhasa Literature Conference is expected to continue this legacy, bringing together scholars, artists, and the community for a celebration of language, culture, and learning.
Khwopa Engineering College Vice Principal Dr. Subegman Bijukchen and Vice Principal of Khwopa College of Engineering Er. Ratnashova Prajapati expressed her best wishes for the success of the 44th Nepalbhasa Literature.
In the program, Er. Naresh Khatri, Secretary of Nepalbhasa Literature Conference (Main Committee) and Mr. Sanjaya Manandhar, Secretary of the 44th Nepalbhasa Literature Conference Organizing Committee, shed light on the purpose of Ta:munjya, Nepalbhasa Literature Conference.
