The syllabus revision workshop for the Bachelor of Civil Engineering (BCE) program under the Institute of Engineering (IOE), Tribhuvan University, occurred on 19th and 20th Bhadra 2081. Organized by the Curriculum and Instructional Material Development Unit (CIMDU) at Pulchowk Campus, it focused on surveying and structural engineering subjects.
Representatives from Khwopa College of Engineering, including Er. Ratna Shova Prajapati and Er. Ananda Kumar Mishra participated as a subject expert in Structural Engineering. The workshop reviewed the BCE course structure, introducing changes like a 12-week internship and removing certain subjects, with a shift to the credit-based system (CGPA).
For structural subjects, revisions were discussed for Concrete Technology, Theory of Structure I, and Theory of Structure II. Updates included quality control in concrete technology and the introduction of project work in Theory of Structure II. Participant feedback was collected for further review and possible inclusion.
The workshop discussed two specific courses related to surveying: Engineering Surveying-II (CE:203) of the II-year I part and Survey camp (CE 256) of the II-year II part. Er. Sunita Kharbuja, and Er. Bibek Thapa Participated as the subject expert for surveying. The overall syllabus for both subjects is similar to the older one, with some additions in theory and practice, such as ‘Drone Surveying,’ ‘DGPS Surveying,’ and ‘Hydrographic Surveying.’
