On July 24, 2024, the Department of Computer and Electronics Engineering at Khwopa College of Engineering, Bhaktapur, hosted an enlightening guest lecture titled "Energy Environment and Society." Prof. Dr. Sunil Prasad Lohani, a renowned expert in renewable energy, presented on "Energy Source Diversification in Nepal" to 46 students from the BCT 2077 batch and faculty members from the Computer and Electronics, Electrical, and Civil Engineering departments.
Prof. Dr. Lohani, with nearly two decades of experience in renewable energy education, research, and policy, delivered a compelling presentation. He highlighted Nepal's current energy scenario, emphasizing the heavy reliance on hydropower and the need for diversification into solar, wind, and biogas. His insights covered the economic, environmental, and social benefits of a diversified energy portfolio, alongside practical challenges and solutions for implementation.
Following the presentation, a Q&A session allowed students and faculty to discuss topics such as network security, troubleshooting, and future trends in renewable energy. The event concluded with a closing session and a felicitation ceremony, where Er. Dinesh Gothe, Head of the Department of Computer and Electronics Engineering, and Er. Yogesh Bajracharya, Head of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering of Khwopa Engineering College, expressed gratitude to Prof. Dr. Lohani for his insightful presentation and valuable contributions. As a token of appreciation, a memento was presented to Prof. Dr. Lohani.
The lecture was a resounding success, providing participants with a deeper understanding of energy diversification and inspiring further exploration in renewable energy.
