Bonjour!

"A man will only improve when someone makes him see what he is like."

It feels as if I had enrolled in this college yesterday, and today, I can feel in my hands the token of love with "Bon Voyage" presented to me during the Farewell Program. Yesterday, I entered the gate, and now I am out of the gate. It has been almost two years since I graduated from college, but I can still remember the cool winters, the pleasantly hot summers, the chairs at the top of the college building, the first bench where I used to sit, the laboratory where I with my friends used to roam around seeing those loud machines in work, those moments when we first saw them and were amazed seeing those complex components. I can easily remember the workshop lab where we filed a chunk of an iron block into a small shiny hammer. Also, I remember those moments with friends and teachers during those educational tours, field visits, group studies, the canteen, and the long trekking in the name of refreshment from the study. At this point, I am rethinking and reliving the most enjoyable and reminiscing moments of my Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering at Khwopa College of Engineering.

Let's dive a little deeper!

The adolescent age, the rushing adrenaline in the blood, the urgency to do things the easy way, the 'why rumble when you can fumble' mood, and chill today and study tomorrow's feelings. The real or, should I say, the AUTHENTIC definition of the age during which you or I or anyone (most of them) enroll for undergraduate studies. The feeling of no urgency, no hesitation to do what you like, a surge of energy making you do dumb things, and yet you do not know. This was the same feeling and status I had when I entered the front gate of Khwopa College of Engineering in the year Bhadra 5, 2074. As someone who had never heard about the college, the environment was awe-struck when I first entered the college, seeing from outside a group of DURBARS next to each other.

These years of the undergraduate invested in this college, the best opportunities, the stay, the fun, the rush, the good and bad, and the college and program that paved an excellent foundation for a professional future could only be summed up by these points.

College Years: Building the Foundation

The early years filled with a mix of excitement and challenges are mostly for you to learn the changes and adjust to the experience that is granted by the challenging engineering courses. That being said, I opted to study Electrical Engineering. The foundational courses laid the groundwork for my understanding of electricity generation, transmission, and distribution. Keep in mind that Electrical Engineering is not all about electricity and power. The courses like Programming, Designing, Hardware development, Microcontrollers, and the cooperative, helpful, and skilled teachers helped lay a good foundation. The late-night study sessions, group projects, and countless lab hours became the norm. Those were the times when I learned to troubleshoot critical problems, learned new things such as research activities, and was involved in several competitive programs. The friendship and the guidance of passionate teachers made the academic rigors worthwhile.

Internships and Co-ops: Bridging Theory with Practice

One of the key highlights of the college journey was the opportunity to embark on internships and co-op experiences. The project-based pieces of training, software training, and many workshops helped me gain an upper hand in the practical fields. These stints provided a real-world context to the theories we learned in class and allowed me to explore different facets of electrical engineering. The ability of the department to avail joint projects with national and international institutions also impacted the practical life of many students. Opportunities and involvement in the Wind Turbine Design Project jointly with French students, Inter-collegiate tournaments, and national tournaments organized by LOCUS, Kathmandu University, and Robotics Association Nepal were the highlighted times that helped shape my hardware designing knowledge. From working on several mini-research projects to my final year project, each experience added a layer to my skill set and broadened my perspective.

Research and Projects: Unleashing Creativity

A unique blend of theoretical knowledge and practical experience is a solid foundation to face real-world challenges as an engineer. As a student, I had the chance to engage in several research projects, collaborate with esteemed faculty, and explore cutting-edge technologies. The program equipped me with a comprehensive understanding of electrical engineering principles and opened doors to numerous opportunities. Collaboration with industry leaders, networking events, and workshops expanded my horizons and allowed me to apply classroom concepts professionally. The supportive community fostered an environment of collaboration, pushing me to excel and innovate. The institution's commitment to staying at the forefront of technological advancements ensures that students are exposed to the latest trends in the field. From state-of-the-art laboratories to collaboration with external industries, every aspect of the program is designed to nurture creativity and prepare students for the rapidly evolving landscape of electrical engineering. Engaging in research projects opened my eyes to the cutting-edge advancements in the field. Whether it was developing energy-efficient systems or contributing to the design of smart grids, these projects allowed me to apply theoretical knowledge to solve real-world problems. Collaborating with teachers and fellow students fostered a spirit of innovation and creativity.

Networking and Professional Development: Beyond the Classroom

College wasn't just about academics; it was a hub of networking opportunities. Meeting with experts, professors, and seniors and attending conferences, workshops, and industry events became crucial in expanding my professional network. Several guest lectures by industry experts and trained professionals from diverse fields and alums provided valuable insights into the current trends and challenges in electrical engineering. The industrial collaboration of the college helped many of us get a chance to intern at several industries and organizations. The transition from college to the professional world had its share of challenges. Learning to navigate corporate culture, meeting project deadlines, and adapting to a dynamic work environment were hurdles that demanded resilience and adaptability. However, the foundation laid during college proved robust, and with time, I overcame these challenges and thrived in my role.

Conclusion: A Journey of Growth and Achievement

Looking back, I see that my college experience was a transformative journey that equipped me with the knowledge, skills, and mindset needed to thrive in electrical engineering. The challenges, triumphs, and lessons learned have shaped my career and my approach to lifelong learning. As an alum, I am proud to be a part of a community that continues to push the boundaries of innovation and contribute to advancing technology. In retrospect, my time at the institution was not just an academic experience but a transformative journey that shaped my career and instilled a passion for innovation. If you're seeking a program beyond textbooks that provides a rich tapestry of experiences and opportunities, then the Electrical Engineering program at Khwopa College of Engineering is your gateway to a future illuminated with success.

Whether I am a good alum is yet to be decided, but this program and college have been my life's best time, place, and event. I am more than happy, should I say, benevolently grateful for the chances, opportunity, and everything the department, my respected teachers, and the administration provided me and helped me embark upon.

A Quick Note to Future Students

On behalf of the college community, I warmly welcome you as you embark on this exciting journey of higher education. As an alum of this esteemed institution, I have shared my experiences and insights, hoping to glimpse what awaits you here.

During my time, and still to this day, my seniors and teachers used to say the charm of electrical engineering was decreasing. But I believe the charm has nothing to do here, but the information, which is not circulated plainly and distinctly, is the main culprit. Several moments of misinformation, misinterpretation, misrepresentation, fussy talks, and peer pressure make students and guardians void of the knowledge and opportunities this field provides. I feel most of the students are typically obscure or are misled. What could we expect from a misled or uninformed student? Even when I entered this college, I had no fixed idea or opinion about my interest and what to choose among the several engineering dimensions. The first interview with the department made an impact, and I joined the college's Electrical Engineering Program. So, if you are doubtful or confused, come to the college premises, see, know, and clear your doubts.

Lastly, I encourage you to embrace every opportunity that comes your way. College is a time of self-discovery, growth, and transformation. Embrace challenges, step out of your comfort zone, and seize every chance to broaden your horizons. Remember, your journey here will be what you make of it. Cherish the moments, create lasting memories, and build lifelong friendships. As an alumnus, I can confidently say that the college experience will shape you in ways you cannot yet imagine.
